Adena Health System Contracts with Design Clinicals for Electronic Medication Reconciliation Solution MedsTracker

Seattle, WA – (April 4, 2011) – Design Clinicals announced today that the Adena Health System, a not-for-profit health system in south central Ohio, has signed a contract to implement MedsTracker 5.0 for medication reconciliation. Anchored by Adena Medical Center in Chilicothe, the Adena Health System spans 13 counties and provides a full complement of inpatient and outpatient services. Adena Centers of Excellence include Surgical Services, Cardiac Care, Cancer Care, Orthopaedic Care and Women and Children. The health system chose MedsTracker to help improve patient medication safety and meet meaningful use criteria for 2011.

MedsTracker has been certified as 2011/2012 compliant by The Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) as an Electronic Health Record (EHR) module for both hospitals and ambulatory clinics. MedsTracker meets 19 general criteria, 5 inpatient criteria and 4 ambulatory criteria as defined by the Electronic Health Record Incentive Program, Final Rule released July 13, 2010. Certified EHR technology is required for hospitals to achieve meaningful use and qualify for Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

The recently released version 5.0 of MedsTracker includes a module that expands its medication reconciliation platform to full computerized physician order entry (CPOE). CPOE is one of the most challenging of the meaningful use criteria and one met by MedsTracker.

MedsTracker web-based medication reconciliation software supports full compliance with The Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goal (NPSG) .03.06.01 that enters into survey accreditation decisions beginning July 1, 2011.
