MedsTracker by Design Clinicals Achieves both Inpatient and Ambulatory EHR Certification
Medication Reconciliation Software Satisfies 19 General, 5 Inpatient and 4 Ambulatory Criteria
Seattle, WA – (March 30, 2011) – MedsTracker, the electronic medication reconciliation solution by Design Clinicals, has been certified as 2011/2012 compliant by The Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) as an Electronic Health Record (EHR) module for both hospitals and ambulatory clinics. MedsTracker meets 19 general criteria, 5 inpatient criteria and 4 ambulatory criteria as defined by the Electronic Health Record Incentive Program, Final Rule released July 13, 2010. Certified EHR technology is required for hospitals to achieve meaningful use and qualify for Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The Final Rule was adopted as the first step toward improving the security and interoperability of health information technology and its meaningful use in the U.S.
The recently released version 5.0 of MedsTracker includes a module that expands its medication reconciliation platform to full computerized physician order entry (CPOE). CPOE is one of the most challenging of the meaningful use criteria and one met by MedsTracker.
“Having a certified product is only part of the equation,” said Dewey Howell, MD, PhD, founder and CEO of Design Clinicals. “To satisfy the CPOE requirement, hospitals still have to persuade physicians to electronically enter orders for at least 30 percent of their patients. Our live accounts are already meeting that goal through the outstanding physician adoption of MedsTracker.”
He added, “We believe MedsTracker offers the best value in the industry for hospitals trying to meeting Stage 1 Certification of Meaningful Use. Critical access, small- and medium-sized hospitals find MedsTracker is a flexible, affordable solution to dramatically improve medication reconciliation for increased patient safety, and at the same time help ensure they meet Final Rule criteria in time to qualify for incentive payments.”
